Welcome to Shed the Light Nepal, a registered, non-government organisation that provides a place where lives are changed in the most wonderful of ways for some of the poorest children in Nepal.

What began as an overseas journey has become a heart felt mission for charity organiser Suzanne Kupiak. "I saw the poverty of these simple but loving people and came home with an ache in my heart and a determination to try to help."

That determination led to the establishment of an orphanage in Kathmandu. They provide not only a home, family and shelter, but the opportunity of a bright and happy life for children who would have otherwise faced a bleak future.

Daily life is very harsh in Nepal, particularly for the elderly and women, many who work long hours in back breaking work to earn enough money to put the simplest of food on their table.

Moved by the plight of the elderly, Suzanne Kupiak has now established a refuge for both men and women. Kiran Punj provides not only food, shelter and much needed medical care, but also the opportunity to form long and lasting friendships with fellow residents and carers. It is a joy to watch how they blossom.

Future projects include the establishment of a medical care facility to diagnose and dispense much needed medication and further initiatives for street children.

Shed the Light Nepal relies on sponsorship and donations from those kind enough to give as little or as much as they are able. Rest assured that all donations go directly to the children in our orphanages and the elderly in our refuge.

We also have an opportunity shop at Kenilworth that sells both secondhand and new goods and clothing. Many are imported from Nepal and are vibrant in both colour and variety. It is another way we help the people of Nepal, by supporting small shopowners who rely very much on the tourist trade for their livelihoods.

Visit the sponsorship link above to see how you can help to make a difference in the life of a young child or an elder. Help put a smile on little faces. Help make the remaining years of an elderly man or woman happy and productive ones.

Please enjoy your stay here. Thankyou for dropping by.
